Captains log...
Star date June 29th, 2009:
That was the day that we embarked on our new adventure. We were coming to Ch.ina with this GRAND PLAN. This big huge calling. This enormous idea of what we would be doing. To work with a great company making rugs to help the T.ibetans.
Fast forward.
Today...
June 1st, 2011
Two years in. Two years of not seeing what we thought we would see. Two years of things and situations looking completely different. Two years of not working for that rug company. Two years of seeking. searching. waiting. listening. crying. laughing. mourning. weeping. more laughing. more listening. more seeking. and finding.
Finding what?
Finding passions and needs we didn't know existed before.
Finding that Justin is passionate about teaching baseball to young T.ibetan guys. That Shelli goes out once a week to talk with prostitutes. That Justin is the drummer of a T.ibetan band. That there is a need to translate the "good book" into some local dialects.
AND WE ARE SO GLAD WE DIDN'T STICK TO OUR PLAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Things are so awesome right now. Things are moving. Things are changing.
Light is breaking through the darkness.
Relationships are being made. LIFE. LONG. RELATIONSHIPS.
For instance: I (Shelli) had no idea that my longing to work with women in crisis would lead me where it has. I am so privileged to be working along side five other like minded women here in town. We get together every Monday to pr@y and go out every Wednesday to just hang out and talk to our new friends. These broken women. These women who Christ calls lovely and beautiful. These women...friends. Today we talked about tattoos, big booty's and making a date to play at the park. Watching them smile and laugh brings ME joy. I can't even imagine what their creator is thinking. I even was asked to sing today because they had "heard" that I could. So...I gave them "Amazing Grace".
It's true. I once WAS blind...but now, I'm starting to see.
Today...
Happy...
