Justin and I spoke to The Grove yesterday about the need for $6,000 to pay our agency fees for the adoption. What did we walk away with? $7,218!!!!
CAN I GET A WOO WOOT????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a friend told me, "Shelli, God has gates made from pearls and streets made from gold. I'm pretty sure he's 'got this'!!". She was definitely right about that.
Yet, we still need to raise around $23,000 more dollars to bring this baby home. Isn't it CRAZY how expensive international adoptions are???? Seriously! So crazy!!!
Makes one wonder... "Hmmm, maybe the baby comes with a live in nanny for a year....or maybe a free TV". Which in that case, I would call up Mr. Bulgaria and say keep the TV and allow people to adopt for a much smaller dollar amount. But, alas, there is no such TV...just a giant bill to pay to someone, somewhere in Bulgaria. But, I gotta wonder...where DOES the majority of that money go? I'm not all that sure. I'm assuming it goes to the Bulgarian government department over orphan care. I mean...surely it does. Right? Because, if someone ELSE is getting a TV out of this deal, I'm gonna be down right ticked off.
I digress...
Back to yesterday's awesomeness.
We decided that we would not only simply ask for money, but that we would make t-shirts to sell as well...kind of as an incentive to support us. We asked for a minimum $25 donation for the t-shirts. Most people ended up giving us anywhere from $50 - $200 per shirt. HOLY MOLY!!!!! Talk about a blessing. We nearly sold out. So, we're going to be making more.
In the mean time, we have some XS, XL and 2XL left if you're interested. Here are some extremely bad photos of the extremely awesome t-shirts designed by our good friend Justin Falk over at Shop Good in Oklahoma City:

WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGNS? So happy you asked...
Ok, so the one with the lady on it is a picture of Saint Sophia. She is the matron saint of orphans in the Eastern Orthodox church. Sophia is also the capital city of Bulgaria...and if we get a girl from Bulgaria, there is a good chance we will name her Sophia and call her Sophi.
The circle with (what seems like) a math equation in it says "Lubov" pronouced Loo-Bov (long "o" sound at the end). It is the bulgarian word for LOVE.
So, there you have it folks. Two awesome t-shirts that are gonna help bring our baby home. Want one? Shoot us an email or contact us by phone. We would love to get one to you.
